My name is Skip Flanagan I’m a musician and entrepreneur and also an author
Journalist-What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
I come from a family of individuals that love music. My grandmother woke me up playing music every morning. Her favorite song was “I want to be at the meeting around the cross” My uncle was a musician he had professionally recorded songs and did shows. My grandmother had a picture on her dresser of him performing on stage and I think that kinda planted the seed of music in me.
Journalist- What story behind your Success?
Hard work. I guess it’s simple. If u have talent in something you have to nurture it. Keep working on it until u perfect it. Success is actually different for everyone. But I consider the ultimate success is when you have fulfilled one hundred percent of your physical and mental capabilities. I just try to be the best at whatever I’m doing at that moment. It works for me.
Journalist-Tell us about your new single. And what’s the story behind it?
My new single is titled “The Streets don’t love me!” It was inspired by a couple of thing. We live in some dark times right now lot of death. Lot of black on black crime. It was a jeweler named Duke the Jeweler that was killed in Houston. He was a good person.I did research on him and saw that he knew how to work a nail gone and he earned his money the honest way. Next I saw where Migos rapper Takeoff was killed. It hurt me in a different way being a good guy myself. Finally I was in a small casino gambling. One of the security guards didn’t show up this night so I was kind of Leary. I had $200 in my machine so I started max betting to get out. Before I could leave I heard the security guard say he got a gun. So I took off running to the back room. I laid up under a table. Two Hispanic guys came laid on top of me. The light was off. I heard two shots in the building and some guy’s screaming. All of a sudden the light came on and the robbers and the security guard were looking at me. The robber turned and shot the security guard. He took everyone to the front. The other two guys had guns pointed at me. I was like wow this is it. All of a sudden they took off running. At first I was scared to run out but I did. I got home and told my Mom. They were scared. She said “I don’t know what I would have done if u died.” I was in the mood of why do our people do what they do. But as much as we want to be around people we have to segregate from high risk situations. Like the streets
Journalist-What makes your music unique?
Just my style old school soulful. I’m telling personal stories and sharing my experiences from a good guy perspective. I’m not a drug dealer or killer. But I grew up in the ghetto so I can relate to the ghetto. I can adapt and have a conversation in the crackhouse then change attire and have a conversation in the Whitehouse. I use my music to capture moments in time. These three albums capture these moments. From a observatory standpoint and actually living it.
Journalist- What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Be authentic. Be the best you.learn how to play instruments. Concentrate on the craft and not so much on the money.Don’t be afraid to say you have a job. You have to have a job to get the desired job. The job will finance the dream and God will reward you with Destiny

I like J Cole..Mary J Blige..Chuck D..Jill Scott.The Game..DJ Quick..I want to mix it up with young artist and older artist and producers
Journalist-Any upcoming projects in 2023?
Got a kids book titled “The return of the spiritual wizard! Which is going to be a kids book series and cartoon.” And also the republication of my book “Your Only Choice is to become Rich” which I will be doing an interview with Legendary actor Logan Crawford July 25th on Roku channel. But for the most part of 2023 I will be promoting Hustle 5 Smoke Hustle 6 Fire and Hustle 8 slow songs and my clothes line Skip Flanagan apparel.
